TAD 19

Polymer clay pendant. 2 3/4 long and 1 1/4 wide. This is of course another steampunk piece. I love it. I think it has some kind of character to it and it reminds me of a ceramic wall plaque that my aunt Debbie made for my mother. She displayed it in her kitchen for the longest time and it was 3 dimensional. Wonder what happened to it? This is a lot smaller.

Very busy day today. I finally got out of the office at 9:00pm and straight to making this piece. Tomorrow a few guilders are getting together and I am teaching them how to use resin with polymer clay. Should be fun. I have to drop off my paper work and steampunk peices to Eclectics too.  Happy weekend.

TAD 18

TAD 18. This evening I went to my VFW Post and helped make 2 poppy displays; one is the pin of the State Commander and the other one with the dove is the State Auxiliary President's pin.  The displays will be judged and one display will be chosen to represent the State of Kansas at the National Convention in Indiana this year. I helped box care packages to the Platoons Forward too. 2 years ago our Post 7397 began a program called Platoons Forward. The purpose of this program is to provide comfort items to infantry Platoons and Companies deployed to Remote Mountain top Combat Out Posts. These units do not have access to facilities such as mess halls and Post Exchange. We packed 14 boxes tonight with items troops might miss or make their bland food taste better.  It sure makes you feel good knowing you are making a soldier's life a little better from items we take for granted.

TAD 17 Steampunk polymer clay bracelet

Okay with the steampunk! I made one cuff bracelet and wanted to make another. This bracelet is wider, 1 3/4 inch and I spent too much time on it. I don't like when I have to think about something as opposed to just putting it wherever it feels good. Wait, that didn't come out right, did it? This piece was cured 6 different times.  There are still pieces that I need to add to it but ran out of time. I have a key to add to it, another watch gear where you see an empty hole. I still have to fill out paper work for Eclectics, an artist co-op to be juried this Monday to see if I can sell my steampunk.

Easy work day for me. There are not many days like that so I really enjoyed it.  I met some other workers at Saints after work for margaritas and a great hamburger and of course for the socialization of it all.

TAD 16

My TAD 16 was made with a different brand of polymer clay called "Pardo Jewellery Clay" made in Germany. Not sure what to think about it. It seems a little dryer than most clays. It has a gold glitter in it. I antiqued it after it was cured. Day 16. Wow! Can I go the whole 28 days and keep my sanity? We shall see.  The other 2 pictures are TAD 15 completed.

I had such a great day with Judy yesterday. We went to the Metropolitan Garden show at the American Royal Center in KCMO. Parking cost $7.00. The tickets were not inside the center and we had to walk even farther to the side of Kemper Arena to buy the tickets. Those tickets were $7.50. Not too happy at this point because it was freezing outside. I really did enjoy looking at all the beautiful flowers. It gives me hope that spring is around the corner. Just gives me something to look forward to. These orchids were at the show. All I had was my cell phone. Not too bad for a cell.
I made another steampunk. Time is 10:46pm and it is cooling. I have not antiqued it yet or hung chains on it but will do so tomorrow and show this with my TAD 16. I went to a really cute shop today. I am bringing my steampunk pieces to be juried to see if they want to sale my pieces in their shop. Wish me luck.

TAD 13 itty bitty polymer pendant

I had so much fun today.  TAD, Hesshatcreek came over and we went shopping. She made me this cowl scarf that is so cool! I am ready for the cold weather if it has to continue.

Hesshatcreek taught the Kansas City Polymer Clay Guild how to make itty bitty flowers today from polymer clay. Oh my gosh! It was not easy and believe me it took some time. This is what my TAD 13 is. It was one piece when I started and cut it to make earrings. I need to make a lot more to have this technique down pat. She made it look so easy though.

TAD 12

Okay, here I go again. I think this must be me going mad or something. When I start making something that I am so intrigued with I just keep going and going. Something like that damn energizer bunny. This is a wonderful, yes steampunk bracelet….  I wanted to make the belt going around the bracelet instead of it just hanging around it. I intend on making another one with the belt going around and around. I think it will add more depth, contrast  or something.

I went to my dentist of 20 years or so and had my wonderful root canal. She was going to try to save the crown, but of course it cracked so now I have to buy a crown. So funny though while I was getting my next appointment and paying once more for the jewels in my mouth, one of the wonderful girls decided to tell me she liked the necklace I had on. Of course I always say, "Thanks I made it." I told her about the sale I was in last weekend. She asked me how much I normally sale it for. I told her. She told me to bring something to her next week. I just took off the necklace and told her she could have it. She went to get her money and gave it to me. What I have figured out from this; I have had many people tell me they liked what I had on and always just told them "Thanks I made it." Now I will say, "Thanks I made it do you want to buy it?" I have a hard time giving up my work because I just fall in love with it. It has taken me 10 years to figure out I can make it again. I will take a picture of it (always have my phone with camera) and make it again. I can't even imagine how much money I would have now just from people telling me how they like what I had around my neck….

Tomorrow I will have a fun day with TAD Hesshatcreek. She is showing us how to make itty bitty flowers. This, hopefully will be my TAD for Saturday. She has more creativity in her little finger than I have in my whole body! Happy weekend to all..

TAD 11

Here we go once more! Hello, will someone tell me to just stop with the steampunk? This is a little different as I have used my little polymer clay flowers to add to give it some kind of who knows what. I know I need to do something as I am sure my stuff is getting so very boring. Here is a picture of my TAD 10 complete with resin. I really need to learn how to take pictures.

It is actually snowing in Louisiana where my mother and father live, Shreveport/Bossier. It is not sticking but they are calling for 5 to 6 inches tonight. It is illegal to drive without all season tires in Kansas City but not in Louisiana and my folks don't have all season tires. I told mom to stay home. She says she's fine. Whatever my darling mother. Just because you drove in the snow in Montana don't think you are Superwoman. Love you much! In loving memory of Uncle Christopher Thropp Jr.

Well here I am with some kind of steampunk going on again. I am crazy, just ate up I guess. Here is a picture of a pendant that I completed tonight. I let the piece cool and added a 2 part resin and letting it dry. I will take more pictures tomorrow. I hope it looks better. I finished work at 7:30pm and was so happy. Hubby was out playing pool so I had the plenty of time to enjoy the silence.
